Dearest delegates and advisors,

My name is Laia Malburet-Breuil and I am beyond honored and thrilled to serve as the Secretary-General of BearMUN 2023.

It is my biggest pleasure to invite you to participate in BearMUN 2023, UC Berkeley’s premier high school conference hosted by North America’s 4th Model United Nations team in the country. On behalf of my Secretariat, I extend the warmest welcome for you to come and participate in our exciting two-day conference filled with debate, learning, and laughter.

The University of California at Berkeley and BearMUN’s host team, UCBMUN, are a hub of leadership, innovation, and diversity. We have designed BearMUN 2023 to be the most educational experience for our high school students; they will be taught and trained by staffers handpicked amongst students in the top public university in the world. We want our delegates to succeed both in their MUN and college ambitions; for that reason, we have added exclusive additions to BearMUN 2023, and we cannot wait for you all to see what we have in store.

Whether you come to debate about FIFA politics, Women’s rights, or even act as a Director of Hogwarts, you will find your place at BearMUN 2023. This year’s committees will challenge delegates to think creatively and unconventionally like never before and propel them to grow to become more well-rounded, skilled people.

BearMUN 2023 is more than a conference; it’s an experience. We hope that you choose to be a part of it on December 2–3, 2023!

Yours,

Laia Malburet-Breuil

Christina (she/her) is the External Chief of Staff and is so excited for the upcoming conference! She is currently a sophomore majoring in Political Science and minoring in History and Public Policy. Under Secretary General — Crisis

usg-crisis@bearmun.berkeley.edu

Milad (he/him/his) is a second year student from San Carlos, California studying computer science. He joined UCBMUN his first semester with no experience, after seeing how fun the community was. (He also loves attention and giving speeches). Outside of MUN, he can be found programming, lifting, cooking, and eating copious amounts of food. Ask him about his protein gelato recipe, if you get the chance. He wanted to become USG because he is a crisis man through–and–through, and will make sure BearMUN crisis committees are accessible and fun for new and seasoned delegates alike! Bring chaos to committee! We love to see it.

Victor Villalobos

Under Secretary General — General Assembly

usg-gasb@bearmun.berkeley.edu

Hello everyone! My name is Victor (using the he/him pronouns) and I am a third-year majoring in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations. I am from a small town called Worthington in Minnesota. One of the reasons that I decided to join Model United Nations is to immerse myself in the diversity that UC Berkeley has offered me since I was a freshman. In addition to this, being a member of this team is a representation of being a part of something greater, something that I hope you all get to experience at BearMUN! I decided to serve as your USG in GA because I’ve been competing in GA and in similar debating situations for over 5 years so I hope to use my knowledge and make these committees as smooth and enjoyable as possible! A fun fact that you all should know about me is that I can name all flags of the world and hold the unofficial world record in naming these flags in under a certain amount of time!

See you all this fall,

Victor
