BearMUN 2022
November 5th to 6th, 2022

Letter from the Secretary-General

Dear Esteemed Delegates,
My name is Alejandro Alvarez, also known as Alex, and I am excited to serve as the Secretary-General for BearMUN 2022! On behalf of our secretariat and staff, I am thrilled to welcome you to Berkeley once again to debate, create policy, and engage with other delegates from across the world. Importantly, I am excited to invite you to our club’s first in-person high school conference since the start of the pandemic! This year, we’ve introduced a new committee system: novice and advanced committees. Novice committees are designed exclusively for first time and beginning delegates, while advanced committees serve more experienced delegates with collegiate-level topics and debate.
Delegates will debate, collaborate, and compete on UC Berkeley’s campus. Whether you are working towards expanding civil liberties on campus in our Free Speech Movement committee, discussing decolonization in the Tri-Continental Conference, or setting the University of California’s agenda, BearMUN’s committees will challenge delegates to critically think about real world and historical issues. While you are in town, we encourage you to tour Berkeley campus, its three adjacent neighborhoods, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Importantly, if any issues arise regarding the well-being of our delegates, do not hesitate to reach out to our staffers or secretariat.
In all, it is my honor to welcome you to our in-person conference on our beautiful university campus—the home of the Free Speech Movement and political activism. Join us November 5th and 6th for BearMUN 2022!
Best Regards,

Alejandro Alvarez
